Villainous Villains Of Villainy!

So, we all know about the bad  guys...

They range from being wholly laughable to being horrific and evil..

However, the worst (Or best) of them are the ones who acutally look like they could win.

So, out of every villain(ess) you have ever read about or watched, which one seemed like they could have actually pulled off their plans..

Oh, where to begin?
-Lilly Weatherwax, a fairy godmother who feeds people to stories to increse her own power?
-Reacher Gilt, a businessman so ridiculously crooked looking that no one thinks he's actually crooked?
-Dios, a high priest who stockpiles time in order to live and rule forever because he's afraid of change?
-The Deep Dark Dwarfs, Dwarf religious extremest who want to bury the truth about the battle of Koom Vally forever?
-Coin, a young sourcerer manipulated by his own staff?
-The Auditors of Reality, who think all this free thought is hard to add up and would rather it just stop?
-The Gonne, a deadly new weapon that doesn't want any more of itself to be made?
-The New Death, who wears a crown?
-The Queen of the Elves, who wants to escape her pocket world and rule over the disk?
-Mr. Teatime (Pronounced te-a-ta-mea), an assassin who kills Santa Claus and who may have found a way to slay Death himself?
And that is only a few of the Discworlds many villains. I'm ashamed to admit that I can't identify the rest in that picture.

Wendy, from Rule of Rose.

If you've never played Rule of Rose, lucky you. It really is an awful game. It has a surprisingly good storyline and atmosphere, but you probably won't notice them under the tedious gameplay and bad controls. The game is a survival horror set in the memories of a girl named Jennifer. The memories are specifically of her time spent at the Rose Garden orphanage, where she was subjected to the whims of a group of girls called The Red Crayon Aristocrats. Things quickly take a turn toward The Lord of the Flies as the children sacrifice animals, devise cruel punishments, and generally descend into a barbarous version of playtime. There is even speculation that they murdered one or more of their caretakers.

In the middle of all these "games" sits Wendy, the Princess of the Red Rose. A sickly girl, she was very attached to Jennifer. She is Jenny's only friend in the orphanage, and may have orchestrated all the bullying Jennifer endured simply to make her more dependent on herself. When Jennifer finds a dog, Wendy becomes so jealous that she has the poor thing beaten to death! This leads to this amazing scene:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D67imqP1yR8

After just killing the girls pet, Wendy revels herself as the leader of the aristocrats and presents herself to Jennifer, intent on making Jenny her prince.Jen lets her have it! If you have never played the game, you have no idea how cathartic this scene is or any notion of the sense of betrayal that makes it work. The game dose a really good job of making the player feel ostracized and alone. The only two people who are ever nice to you are Wendy and the dog, Brown. In this scene Brown dies and Wendy is revealed to be behind everything, Stripping the player of any allies they thought they had.

The interesting things about Wendy as a villain are twofold:
1. You'll notice in that video that she is the smallest of the Aristocrats. Indeed, her title before the revel was "The Sickly Princess." So how did she become the highest ranked member? The same way Jack took power in Lord of the Flies, manipulating the orphans fear. She created a story of a monster called stray dog and even went so far as to train a local psychotic to make her story more believable. She did this by dressing as the mans deceased son. Ya, Wendy's a bit of a manipulative sociopath. Incidentally, after she is deposed she brings this man to the orphanage and he slaughters everyone but Jennifer, including Wendy. Whether she intended for him to kill them or simply lost control of him is not made clear. This is the way it's portrayed in Jennifer's memory, but those aren't always accurate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unYf2d9Xr5Q
That is Wendy in the boys outfit.

2.Everything she dose, she dose out of Love for Jennifer. And I do mean Love, with a capital L. The girl has an obsession with Jenny. From the bullying, to killing her pet, to creating Stray Dog, literally every single thing she dose is an attempt to keep Jennifer close to her.

You should.

The author is in my top five..

The Book of Lost Memories wrote
The name of that town is Silent Hill.

Although it is known as a scenic resort area, it is a cursed place where the town's former inhabitants were once driven away, brutal executions were once carried out, and a mysterious plague was once prevalent.

The town is centered around Toluca Lake, from which a thick fog perpetually enshrouds the area and makes vague the reality and dreams of those who visit the town.

And according to those who have seen them, there are also times when "things" that should not naturally exist appear.

A few incidents that have occurred in this town up to this point have gone unaddressed, leaving behind a great number of mysteries.

Here and now, looking back on it all, let's elucidate these mysteries one by one
.

Silent Hill is a town nestled away in Maine. It is a mid sized town built on the shores of Toluca lake, surrounded by wooded areas and rivers. This has made it a popular resort town, although the tourism market seems to be drying up in recent years.

Silent Hill has always been special. The area in and around Silent Hill has a history going back over four centuries, before the time of England’s proper colonization of America. To the local tribes of Native Americans, the Toluca Lake area had been known as "The Place of Silenced Spirits", and was long considered to have a kind of spiritual significance and an air of mysterious power. It was considered to be a holy place, where many rituals were conducted in accordance with the indigenous beliefs.

In time a cult Known as The Order took up these ancient rituals. In an an attempt to bring about heaven on earth they burned a girl named Alessa Gillespie in a ritual intended to have her give birth to the cults god. By all accounts, this is where things started to get really bad. The traumatized girl, for the first time, warped the town to her whims and turned it into Hell on Earth.

Ever since, the town has taken on a life of it's own. If you have some kind of trauma or unresolved guilt the town will take you and place you in a crucible. It will spirit you away to a foggy version of itself, reach into your mind to find your guilt and angst, and try to kill you with it. If you succeed in overcoming your Guilt and coming to terms with your trauma the town releases you back into the world stronger than before. If you don't, then by all accounts the town eats you. Don't think yourself safe just because you don't go there either. The town has been know to lure the damaged to it, and The Order seem to be able to carry the "town" with them when they leave.

So, One Piece has a lot of good villains to chose from, and I pretty much remember them all because I'm a huge shameful fanboy. But this guy...

Caesar clown, most recent villain as of this writing. He's a gas man, and it's a Logia power so he becomes gas. But that's not what makes him bad.

One Piece villains can be ruthless and reprehensible, but it takes a special kind of horrible to kidnap children, screw around with their hormones to make them bigger, then get them addicted to painkillers so they can't run away. This guy is going places.

One of the villains that struck me as 100% pure evil is the unnamed hunter in the Elfen Lied manga.
That guy is really a nasty sadist.
His task was to find Lucy. But to do that he needed another of her kind.
(since the diclionus can sense each others proximity)

What he did was use the girl, cut of all limbs and organs that aren't critical for survival.
Then put her in a box he could carry around. While giving her drugs that increase her pain.

As for villains that could almost succeed.

Freddy Krueger.

Seriously.  I sometimes have lucid dreams.
But I rather not face him in my dreams...

Almost? He could totally succeed!

But I agree, he is scary as crap, and his status as a supernatural boogeyman means I would not want to meet him in a dark alley. Especially, if that dark alley is in my dreams.

Re: Villainous Villains Of Villainy!

Let me tell you about The Practical One. The Practical One is one of the primary antagonists in Planescape Torment.

He's also you.

You see, the Nameless one has no mortality. He can't die. Every time he does, he comes back with no memories. The Practical incarnation is the one who came before the one you play as. That game is the greatest fantasy novel I've ever read, and describing just how horrible a human being Practical was would spoil all the terrible surprises. Suffice to say, people who use other people would come from across the multiverse to kneel and study at the feet of the master, and he would probably further his plans with each of them.

It's worth a read, here: http://lparchive.org/Planescape-Torment/

It's long, but the only thing the let's player adds to it are intermissions in the tavern and descriptions of the fight scenes. Everything else is pure Chris Avalon.
